Polyvagal Foot Reflexology Massage Therapy

Polyvagal Foot Reflexology Massage Therapy
Balance begins at your feet.
Reflexology is a complementary practice based on the application of controlled and rhythmic pressure to specific reflex points located on the hands and feet, with the aim of supporting overall well-being.

During a reflexology session, gentle touch and pressure are applied to selected areas of the feet to promote relaxation, support the body's natural balance, and encourage a sense of well-being.

HISTORY OF REFLEXOLOGY

The origins of reflexology are believed to date back thousands of years. Evidence of pressure and touch techniques applied to the hands and feet has been found in ancient civilizations such as Egypt, China, and India.

The foundations of modern reflexology were established in the early twentieth century through Dr. William H. Fitzgerald's "Zone Theory."

Later, Eunice D. Ingham made significant contributions to the development of modern reflexology by systematically mapping the reflex areas of the feet.

Today, reflexology is widely used in many countries as a complementary approach to support relaxation, stress reduction, and overall well-being.

REFLEXOLOGY IN AUTISM

POLYVAGAL REFLEXOLOGY THERAPY

Polyvagal Reflexology Therapy is a complementary approach that combines reflexology techniques with concepts aimed at supporting the regulation of the autonomic nervous system and the vagal system.

Children with autism may differ in their responses to sensory stimuli, interaction with their environment, attention, communication, and emotional regulation.

For this reason, we evaluate each child individually according to their unique needs and developmental characteristics.

At Harmoni Therapy and Support Center, we offer Polyvagal Foot Reflexology as a complementary approach that may provide support to children with autism and their families.

During each session, gentle, rhythmic, and controlled touch is applied to selected reflex areas of the feet.

The application is individually adapted according to the child's age, sensory profile, needs, and developmental level.

Our goal is to help the child feel calmer, safer, and more comfortable while creating an environment that supports sensory and bodily regulation.

WHAT DO WE AIM TO SUPPORT IN CHILDREN?

Families have reported observing positive changes in some of the following areas after sessions:

- Increased attention span
- Greater interest in the environment, family members, toys, and peers
- Increased willingness to engage in social interaction
- Improved eye contact
- Development of language and communication skills
- Reduction in anger, anxiety, and challenging behaviors
- Easier transition to sleep and support of healthy sleep routines
- Positive changes in sleep duration and sleep quality
- Reduction in repetitive behaviors
- Improved responsiveness to instructions and directions
- Positive changes in bowel function and toileting routines

Every child's developmental journey is unique. Therefore, outcomes associated with reflexology may vary from child to child.

EVERY CHILD IS UNIQUE. EVERY APPROACH SHOULD BE INDIVIDUALIZED.

Every child with autism has unique strengths and needs. Therefore, rather than applying a standard protocol, we adopt an individualized approach based on the child's responses and developmental profile.

We are here to support your child and your family through Polyvagal Reflexology Therapy, helping create an environment where your child can feel more comfortable, secure, and supported throughout their developmental journey.

It is both a privilege and a pleasure for us to accompany your child on this unique journey and support their development.
